Featured Upcoming Event
Join us for our annual Trivia Night! We will be hosting it at the Murphysboro Elks Lodge as in previous years.
In addition to Trivia, we will have a 50/50 Raffle, Silent Auction, Cash Bar, and Best Decorated Table Competition, all for your entertainment!
Feel free to bring your own snacks, but please leave the adult beverages at home; the Elks provides us with a cash bar for the evening.
Teams may consist of up to 8 people (you can play with less, but no more than 8 per team) with a team fee of $120, or $15 per person. Payment can be made before the event or at the door. Call Amy at 618-535-9323 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP your table today!
Each year, between March and April, St. Francis CARE hosts our annual trivia night. This event brings in community members from all around, and is an enjoyable event for all! Proceeds from the team entry fees and the silent auction items go directly to our animals and our building. Entry fee per person is $15, and $120 per team. There is an 8 person max for each team, though you are allowed to play with less than 8 people. Teams are encouraged, but not required, to participate in our “best table decoration” contest.
Are you a pro golfer? What about someone who just loves to drive those fun carts around all day long? Maybe you’re someone in between. It doesn’t matter! We’d love to have you! Each May, teams of 4 golfers get together to swing their clubs for a good cause. Entry fee is $150/person, and proceeds go directly back to our babies. Lunch, snacks, and beverages (adult and non) are provided. Join us this year for a great time!
Raise the Woof Raffle
New this September is a fundraiser that we hope to grow in the coming years. Held on the 10th of September, this raffle sells tickets for $20 each for a chance to win our grand prize of $2,000! 9 cash prizes are being drawn for, with a live band performing, a cash bar available, and the proceeds going to support our animals. Tom Cat Hill Social Club, a bluegrass band, will be preforming after the drawing takes place. What’s better than winning money while you help animals in need? Tickets are available for those nearby or far away, as you need not be present to win! Just stop by St. Francis CARE, one of our community events, or email Amy at email@example.com to get your ticket today!
On the first Tuesday of each month, we invite kids of all ages to St. Francis CARE to read to an animal of their choice for 30 minutes. Studies have shown that it improves reading skills to read aloud, and if you have a shy child, or one who isn’t a confident reader, this could really encourage them to improve their skills. Animals never laugh or judge, they just want a lap to sit on and a face to kiss while a child is reading to them. This helps socialize our animals, and gives them a chance to interact with children and adults more often. Open to all ages. Timeframe is 5:00-6:30 pm on the first Tuesday, and second Thursday of each month. RSVP at firstname.lastname@example.org. There is no cost.
Each month, a local restaurant gives us a helping paw by participating in a “dine and donate” evening for St. Francis CARE. All you have to do is eat and enjoy. Watch our Facebook page for dates and locations. They donate a portion of proceeds back to St. Francis, and those proceeds are put back into our babies. You’re helping feed others by feeding yourself, and we appreciate it.
Every holiday season there are thousands of discarded pets in shelters who won’t get the chance to feel the excitement & joy of Christmas morning with their family. Let’s make a difference!
Join us for our annual Christmas Eve Howliday Magic Event. A night full of excitement and joy, specifically for our adult large breed dogs and our adult cats who are so often passed over for adoption simply due to their age or size.
We provide a fire, warm beverages to keep you toasty warm, and some sweets to keep you … well … sweet.
You provide the love and the fun stuff. Please bring big dog appropriate toys (no stuffing, please), treats, cat toys, chewies (did I mention TOYS?), Catnip, Kongs and peanut butter for stuffing, Nylabones, tuff toys to chew and snuggle with with, feather toys to chase …
Dress in your warmest grubbies, bring a folding chair if you’d like & join us on Christmas eve from 6:00 – 8:00.
***Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for added events. We like to be involved in the community as much as possible. These are our set events, but we often add more when they are available***
